On November 6, the final and award ceremony of the 2024 “Tianjiaowan Cup” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition – Life and Health Track was successfully held in the Roadshow Hall of “Gathering Talents from All Over the World” at the Xintai Center in Putuo District. Xiao Xiaoling, General Manager of Tongji Holding and Chairman of Tongji Science Park, Gao Jun, Deputy General Manager of Tongji Holding and Chairman of Putuo Park, Sun Hongyan, Deputy General Manager of Tongji Science Park and General Manager of Putuo Park, Zhang Zhen, Deputy General Manager of Tongji Science Park, Xu Huimin, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the Putuo District Committee and Director of the District Talent Work Bureau, Jin Wenjuan, Deputy Director of the Putuo District Science and Technology Commission, Xie Yi, Deputy General Manager of Putuo Capital Company, representatives from the Putuo District Commerce Commission, Taizhou High-tech New Area, Shanghai Putuo Sub-branch of Agricultural Bank of China, Tianyou Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University (under preparation), professors and scholars from Tongji University, teachers and students from Tongji Medical College and the School of Life Sciences, investment institutions and experts in the life and health field, as well as participating enterprises and teams, totaling more than 100 people, participated in this event.
This competition was jointly hosted by Putuo Park of Tongji Science Park, Tongji Medical College and the School of Life Sciences and Technology, with the theme of “Innovative Medicine, Gathering Wisdom for the Future”. The competition aims to build a stage for entrepreneurs in the life and health field to showcase their innovative styles and promote the transformation and implementation of scientific and technological achievements in universities. At the same time, it aims to discover life and health projects with high growth potential, help them connect with the rich resources of Tongji University in scientific research, talents, finance and the market, and accelerate the innovative development of the life and health industry.
During this competition, the establishment ceremony of the “Scientists’ Home” in Putuo Park of Tongji Science Park was also held, and Professor Xu Guotong, as an incoming scientist, attended this ceremony.
This competition has received extensive attention from all sectors of society and attracted many entrepreneurial enterprises and teams in the life and health field to participate actively. Nearly a hundred projects signed up for the competition. After three rounds of intense competition, a total of 24 projects won awards in this competition, including 1 gold award, 2 silver awards, 3 bronze awards and 6 excellence awards in both the enterprise group and the team group respectively.
The project of Tongeye – using iPSC-RPE cell transplantation to treat dry AMD stood out from nearly a hundred projects with its outstanding innovation and good feasibility, and won the first prize in the enterprise group of this competition.
In the future,Tongeye will continue to leverage the resource advantages of Putuo Park of Tongji Science Park to develop the company’s scientific research achievements. Relying on the innovation and entrepreneurship service system of the park, it will promote the marketization and industrialization of relevant achievements.
